MinSU's Commitment to Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions: A Path to Sustainable Development

Mindoro State University (MinSU) has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting peace, justice, and the development of strong institutions, aligning with the principles of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16. A notable achievement in MinSU’s commitment to transparency and accountability is its 100% resolution rate and 100% compliance rate in the latest 8888 Agency Statistics for the period of January to September 2024. This reflects the university’s strong adherence to efficient grievance handling and its capacity to address concerns promptly and fairly. These efforts ensure that the university remains accountable to its stakeholders, promoting trust and confidence in its operations.

MinSU has also established a strong foundation in grievance machinery and dispute settlement mechanisms, grounded in existing Civil Service Commission (CSC) issuances as well as its own faculty manual. This framework provides a structured process for resolving disputes and addressing concerns within the university community. The grievance mechanisms ensure that individuals have access to fair and timely resolutions, fostering a culture of fairness and justice within the institution.

MinSU adheres to its Board of Regents (BOR)-approved Student Handbook, which serves as a guide for resolving student concerns. One such initiative is the university’s Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Bless Our Cops Oriental Mindoro, aimed at the implementation of the Squad Weekly Interactive Meeting (SWIM) for Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) cadets. This program encourages cadets to attend short weekly meetings designed to inspire self-discipline, promote values formation, and keep morale high. The topics covered in these meetings range from anger management, family values, cultural understanding, to financial literacy, and they encourage cadets to live a life of service, selflessness, and respect for others. By promoting these values, MinSU helps in shaping future leaders who are not only disciplined but also committed to serving the greater good of society.

MinSU is also proud of its active and recognized student groups that focus on civic duty, social responsibility, and community service. These student organizations, including the Student Christian Organization (SCHOR), Asosasyon Na Gagabay at Guguinta sa Amng Tribo, Karapatan at Adhikain para sa Yumayabong ng Organisasyon ng MinSU (ANGGAT KAYO), Catholic Campus Ministry, Christian Brotherhood International, Rotary in Action – ROTARACT Club, and Student Volunteer Organization, play a vital role in fostering social consciousness and civic engagement among students.
